Information:
Rojo Alicante Marble derives its name from its colour and its place of origin.
Rojo - is Spanish for red, and Alicante - is the Spanish province from which it is quarried.
It consists of crystalline limestone with grey and white calcite-filled cracks (the grey cracks being older than the white).
Highly prized for its beautiful colour, it can be found throughout Europe and parts of the Middle-East in palaces, mansions, hotels etc.
It is used on small ornaments, clocks etc. through to large decorative marble columns and wall panels.
The painted imitation of marble; 'marbling' is taught at various places throughout the world.
